Carbon Utilisation Agar is developed for the cultivation and differentiation of Streptomyces purpureus and other Streptomyces species based on carbohydrate utilization. The carbohydrates used for the studies are glucose, sucrose, xylose, arabinose, inositol, mannitol, fructose, rhamnose, raffinose or cellulose.
