Egg Yolk Agar Base, HiVegâ„¢ is used for isolation and identification of Clostridia and certain other anaerobes. This medium is used for isolation and detection of Clostridium perfringens and differs from the original formula by the inclusion of hemin. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
