Glucose Yeast Extract BC Agar Medium is recommended for enumeration and cultivation of Bacillus coagulans from food samples. It is also used in routine diagnosis for spoilage in canned foods. The unique property of Bacillus coagulans of forming spores can be identified on this medium on incubation at higher temperature as 40 ± 2°C for 48 hours.
