Modified Duncan Strong (DS) HiVegâ„¢ Medium is recommended for isolation and differentiation of Clostridium perfringens from other Clostridia from food on the basis of raffinose fermentation. Hiveg medium is formulated as per Duncan and Strong and recommended by APHA for the isolation and differentiation of C. perfringens. It is also recommended for the rapid detection of the Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
