Photobacterium HiVegâ„¢ Broth is used for cultivation and demonstration of luminiscence of photobacteria. The light-generating enzyme called luciferase is responsible for luminescence. Luminescent bacteria divert upto 10% of their respiratory enzyme into a specific metabolite pathway that converts chemical energy into visible light. Lucibacterium harveyi, Vibrio fischeri are known to produce luminiscence.It is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
