Sulphite HiVegâ„¢ Agar is recommended for detection of thermophilic sulphide producing anaerobes. Tryptone in the medium provides nitrogenous compounds required for the growth of organisms. Sodium sulphite is reduced and thus contribute in H2S production by the thermophilic anaerobic bacteria. Sulphite HiVegâ„¢ Agar is prepared by using vegetable peptones in place of animal based peptones which make the media free of BSE/TSE risks.
