LI Agar, HiVegâ„¢ is recommended for cultivation of Brucella and other pathogenic bacteria. Further enhancement of growth can be achieved by the addition of 5% horse or rabbit serum to the medium. Half strength Liver Infusion Agar can be used for the isolation of Entamoeba histolytica. LI Agar, HiVegâ„¢ is prepared by using vegetable peptones in place of animal based peptones which make the media free of BSE/TSE risks.
