Methylene Blue was earlier recognized as a good nuclear stain. More importantly it is an excellent stain for ribonucleic acid, which is the important stainable constituent of bacterial bodies of lymphocyte and hemoprotoal cytoplasm and of nerve cell tigroid granules.
