OFPBL Agar Base (Oxidation Fermentation Polymyxin Bacitracin Lactose Agar Base) is recommended for the selective isolation of Burkholderia cepacia from clinical and non-clinical samples. Selective agents such as Polymyxin B and bacitracin antibiotics are added to the medium that suppresses other bacterial flora present in respiratory secretions and sputum. Medium conatins Lactose as a fermentable carbohydrate, Bromothymol blue is a pH indicator. Burkholderia cepacia grow as as yellow coloured colony w/ yellow halo on this medium.
