Zinc Solubilizing Agar is used for detection of zinc solubilizing soil microorganisms. Zinc oxide present in the medium is solubilised by zinc solubilizing bacteria and they show clearance around the colony. Zinc solubilizing bacteria can solubilize both the insoluble zinc compounds, though ZnO is more effectively solubilized in comparison to ZnCO3. Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus cereus are known zinc solubilisers.
